The first one we saw was between the beach and the Cement Shio… was it looking for the pier?? It was almost as much fun watching everyone lining up with their cameras trying to get a good video as it was to see the humpies. I loved learning about the history of the Castro Adobe and admiring those gorgeous old cork trees. Especially cool was seeing how you were able to match ceramic shards that popped up in gopher holes (!) as well as in excavations to historic dinnerware patterns. The Castro family had dishes that came from both China (Canton Ware) and England (red and green Spatterware, Annularware, and John Edwards “Cornith” pattern all made before 1850. It shed such an interesting light on what was evidently a global, cosmopolitan family. #castroadobe #ceramics #spatterware #annularware #cantonware #californios #rancholife #californiahistory #santacruzhistory

We had such a great Mother’s Day downtown at Abb We had such a great Mother’s Day downtown at Abbott Square and the Santa Cruz MAH … eating @bellygoatburger … listening to @the_surf_creeps … enjoying #accidentallywesanderson exhibit … and being a little silly enjoying all that downtown had to offer. In particular, I loved the arial view of the #cementship by @ryan_foyboi and that beautiful bull painting by @margaretrinkovsky . The beautiful vase from the old Teacup restaurant caught my eye as well.
